One hundred sixty-seven uncomplicated pregnant women and 110 cervical incompetent pregnant women underwent transvaginal ultrasonographic cervical length measurement from the first trimester to the second trimester at the Department of Obstetrics
and
Gynecology, Hanyang University Hospital from May 1990 to August 1995.
In uncomplicated group, 125 were nulliparas and the remainders(n=86) were multiparas. In cervical incompetence group, 106 were operated of cervical cerclage(62 Shirodkar, 31 McDonald, 13 TCIC),
The mean cervical length was compared between uncomplicated nulliparas and multiparas, uncomplicated pregnancy and cervical incompetency.
@ES The results were as follows:
@EN The mean cervical lengths of uncomplicated nulliparas were similar to those of multiparas from 4 to 22 weeks of gestation(3.4±0.1 mm vs 3.3±0.5 mm).
There was no significant difference of cervical lengths between uncomplicated pregnancies and cervical incompetencies(3.4±0.5 mm vs 3.8±1.2 mm).
